Online Video A Bright Spot In Media Landscape

Posted by: Rags, March 20, 2009

Jack Meyers Media just released their '09-'10 forecasts for various advertising-driven media and, as you would expect, it's not pretty.  The good news is that online/video are both estimated to achieve positive growth.  That jibes with what we are seeing, which is media companies deciding to continue to invest in online video.

Posted by: Rags, March 9, 2009

We will be holding a meetup for the Brightcove community in London on Thursday March 26th.  It will be quite informal and a chance for the broader community to get together.  In addition, we'll have some senior Brightcove architects visiting so you developers can pepper them with your burning questions!  Details here.

"La Vidéo Sera Aussi Omniprésente Que Le Texte"

That's a (translated) quote from Jeremy who was interviewed by Marie-Catherine Beuth of Le Figaro during his recent visit to Paris.  Enjoy.

Regional Newspapers Getting Into Video

Posted by: Rags, February 27, 2009

You may have noticed our announcement yesterday that regional news publisher, Johnston Press, will be using us to publish video through their network of 300 odd web properties.  We work with some other regional newspapers in the UK along with OMS in Germany, which has also embarked upon an initiative to create an online video advertising and syndication network.  We've seen most national newspapers invest in online video and it's good to see the regional groups do the same.  I think their opportunity lies in using economies of scale for content licensing and inventory creation while enabling their local affiliates to serve their local communities.  Classifieds is another area that is ripe for innovation from a web video front.  We're seeing a few interesting examples already but I think there is more to be done here.

Hello World

Posted by: Rags, February 24, 2009

Or perhaps this post should be titled "Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Ciao, Hallo" as this blog will be by Brightcove's EMEA team and focused on our EMEA business.  Headquartered in London but with a small team in Germany and Belgium, the Brightcove EMEA team comprises sales & business development, technical consulting, account management and technical support.  While we started our European business in the UK, we have grown signficantly from there and have customers in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland and even Abu Dhabi among others.  I'll leave it at that in terms of a quick introduction but watch this space for more news from Brightcove EMEA.
