Reuters syndication

News.com has some nice coverage today of a new project Brightcove has undertaken with Reuters. This is an innovative program that allows anyone to drop a click-and-play Reuters video news feed into their own site.

In the mid-90's, Ziff-Davis created a new tech-oriented television network called ZDTV, which would later become TechTV. They raised at least a $100 million - enough to build studios and distribution infrastructure, and to have a little left over to wine and dine cable execs to buy carriage for their fledgling channel.

Flash ahead less than ten years.

In a very short period of time, Reuters has effectively rolled out a worldwide video news network.  No satellites. No steak dinners. Potentially thousands of affiliates.
