Check out - Bitly.tv
Nice new site from the folks at Bit.ly to showcase popular videos based on their twitter mentions. Chances are, if you are like me, you are pummeled daily by friends and co-workers with the latest and greatest that viral video has to offer... if not, or if you just need a little instant levity, I would recommend bookmarking this page ;).
You may have noticed that sharing a Youtube link to your Facebook Wall/Newsfeed results in an embedded version of that video. Did you know you can also do this with Brightcove? All you need to do is add some metadata to your video pages and when links to those pages are shared, you videos will be embedded in Facebook, check it out below:

We are excited to announce a new BEML search component available to any Truveo partner for free!
Truveo has built a search component that you can use in your Brightcove templates. It has the ability to search your entire Truveo channel and will return results that will playback in your Brightcove player when selected. This is done through an integration with the Player API.
Main Benefits:
New Brightcove Alliance partner, Livestream, today announced the availability of their new API and a Brightcove player plug-in that they developed with it. At its simplest, the new plug-in allows joint Brightcove and Livestream customers to broadcast live web shows within their Brightcove players.
We recently worked with Facebook to enable playback of Brightcove video in the 'News Feed.' Now Brightcove publishers can allow their users to share content into their News Feeds on Facebook*.
There is nothing better than the gift of sample code, our very own Carl Rutman from the Brightcove Customer Support team has created a simple yet effective way for Brightcove customers to create iTunes podcasts with their content using the Media APIs. There are some account configuration requirements so be sure to check out the comments section at the top of the PHP file.
There are clearly some attractive benefits to cloud-based video encoding including a high degree of flexibility and reduced costs. Alliance Partner Encoding.com breaks these down in a new whitepaper “Everything You Wanted To Know About Cloud-Based Video Encoding But Were Afraid To Ask."
Facebook released the 'Live Stream Box' to their developer community last Wednesday. As you may recall, this was used by CNN for the presidential inauguration - I wrote about it here.
As online video rapidly moves from internet novelty to business requirement for many web publishers, we have started to see greater and greater call for measurement. Call it what you will: engagement, virality, ROI, something entirely different--but web publishers are increasingly needing to see the results of their video efforts against whichever metrics are important for them.
Earlier this week, Fox Entertainment Group’s mobile business launched its first-ever commercial iPhone application for its popular show “Family Guy.” The app was launched in collaboration with Brightcove, Rhythm New Media, a Brightcove Alliance Partner, and Sideshow, an interactive agency.
We continue our march towards enabling Brightcove distribution on all major web properties and devices with the introduction of Brightcove for Plex and Vudu.
Quick update to my post last month, a couple of our customers have already updated their Facebook Fan pages to include Brightcove video! Check it out:

I noticed a great example today of a customer using BEML to invoke a custom menu at the end of each of their videos. This is a great opportunity to re-enforce your branding and/or message as well as provide additional options for sharing.
Want to add video to your Facebook Fan Page? Here are the steps to get you there:
I have spent a lot of time with Brightcove customers over the past few months understanding how they are using various technologies on their websites that complement their online video initiatives. Although the combination of technologies and strategies vary greatly by customer and industry there have been a few key themes that I see emerging:
Brightcove partner, JS-Kit, acquires SezWho commenting & reputation system. Read the full story here and also on the JS-Kit blog.
JS-Kit offers some great tools for implementing comments, ratings, recommendations, chat, & polls on your site affordably.
We are kicking off March here in Cambridge with a nice big snowstorm today! I am probably in the minority
when I say that I love this weather... but I am also a winter sports fan so I have ulterior motives ;)
I came across some pretty cool videos from one of our meteorologically gifted publishers...
Well it was another big weekend for online video content creation with the 2009 Academy Awards. We work with a large group of media companies focused on the entertainment industry, here are a few of the unique strategies in producing and presenting this footage:
A recent report by Cisco has mobile web data usage increasing 66x by 2013 (Network World). The majority of this increase is expected to come from growth in mobile video. I can definitely say that the topic of mobile video has become increasingly important to publishers that I have spoken to over the past 3-6 months.
One of the things I find really valuable about online video is the ability to be more interactive with your audience. There are often many competing distractions online that you don't get when you are watching TV, and depending on the type of audience you are trying to engage, providing interactivity with your video experience can definitely keep users around longer.
