Here's a great article on results on the use of video by Zappos and the results they're seeing - 6% - 30% uplift in sales.  The ROI is such that they're investing in 10 full time video studios with the goal of having 50,000 videos next year (up from 8,000 today).  Wow!  This is very much a trend that we're seeing with e-commerce retailers investing in online video, Share:

Online Video Generating Substantial Revenue For Newspapers

Editor & Publisher writes of a newspaper industry report from Borrell (hat tip to Beet.tv).  Of particular note was the stat that: "Those newspapers investing in online video -- though only a small percent -- are reaping ad dollars. On average 27.7% of their total online revenue comes from video.

Brand Marketers Getting Into Online Video

Our head of Marketing, Jeff Whatcott, just published an article on the use of online video by brand marketers such as Kohler, Sun Microsystems and the San Diego Zoo.  While these are examples of US Companies, we are seeing similar use cases and customers in EMEA.  Just today we signed up a large brand marketer that intends to do just that.  Watch this space for more on this topic...

Jack Meyers Media just released their '09-'10 forecasts for various advertising-driven media and, as you would expect, it's not pretty.  The good news is that online/video are both estimated to achieve positive growth.  That jibes with what we are seeing, which is media companies deciding to continue to invest in online video.

Or perhaps this post should be titled "Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Ciao, Hallo" as this blog will be by Brightcove's EMEA team and focused on our EMEA business.  Headquartered in London but with a small team in Germany and Belgium, the Brightcove EMEA team comprises sales & business development, technical consulting, account management and technical support.  While we started our European business in the UK, we have grown signficantly from there and have customers in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland and even Abu Dhabi among others.&nbs
