Brightcove just announced native support for Adobe's latest Flash Player release (version 10.2), including support for Stage Video. Stage Video works by offloading much of much of the display and scaling functions of video to a device's GPU, which means improved playback quality plus decreased processor usage. As the leading Online Video Platform, Brightcove is the only premium video solution to have Stage Video support available at the launch of Flash Player 10.2.
Google's release of the new open source, royalty-free WebM video format and VP8 codec is big news today. Brightcove is enthusiastically joining Google, Mozilla, Opera, Adobe, and others in pledging support for WebM. Our COO and CTO are on stage out at Google I/O to tell the crowd what we're up to. As you will see below, we believe that WebM is changing the landscape of online video in important ways that you'll want to understand.

Today at the NAB Show in Las Vegas Adobe and Brightcove will announce a new and far-reaching strategic alliance that deepens the integration and alignment between Adobe's software platform and Brightcove's online video service. The alliance also sets in motion a new sales and marketing framework between the two companies to jointly acquire new customers on a worldwide basis.
The Adobe and Brightcove strategic alliance focuses on four core areas:
We're delighted to announce Brightcove support for the latest version of Flash video. Moviestar, announced today, is the fruit of Adobe efforts to bring the HD-capable H.264 video standard to Flash. Moviestar matches Flash's ubiquity and rich user experience capability with high video fidelity. This is a combination we've all been waiting for since Flash 6, with blocky, instant-on video, first hit.
Adobe's merger with Macromedia will create a powerful software company focused on converged media - bringing together dominant formats and runtimes, tools and applications for digital media (documents, images, video), and interactive, multimedia applications into a single company. This new Adobe will likely become one of the most important, independent commercial software companies outside of Microsoft. As computing and media becomes more 'converged', Adobe should become an even more crucial supplier and enabler.
