All eyes for bull riding fans are on Las Vegas this week, where the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals kick off on October 26th. Making this extra exciting for us is the fact that the Professional Bull Riders just launched a brand new website last week with a range of new online video content that is powered by the Brightcove Video Cloud online video platform.
We are extremely excited about our newest video case study with the National Football League's Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL, with a long history of success and a loyal, energetic fan-base.

Just one year ago, we were waiting with baited breath for the release of the first iPad, and fielding questions about what Apple's HTML5 video requirements meant for publishers and viewers alike.
As you may have read the Brightcove Product team recently released the Brightcove Mobile Upload App for the iPhone. To support this awesome way to capture content and get it into your Brightcove account we've updated our transcoding system to better handle videos captured by devices such as the iPhone that may be held in different orientations while recording.
We've made it a priority at Brightcove to help our publishers deliver video to all three screens: the PC, connected TVs, and mobile devices. Using Smart Players, our customers' videos will playback in mobile browsers on any device, whether it's a Flash-based Android device or an HTML5-based iOS iPhone or iPad. We've also helped our publishers ramp up their own mobile app development with useful SDKs and sample applications for Android and iOS devices.
The Brightcove product team is pleased to announce the release of the Brightcove Mobile Upload App for the iPhone. One of the perennial questions discussed in the mobile world over the past two years has been whether mobile apps or mobile web sites will "win" in the end. The media likes to pitch it as a winner-take-all situation where five years from now consumers will predominantly be browsing on devices or using apps, but not both. I've also heard partisan platform vendors pushing this idea.

Brightcove just announced native support for Adobe's latest Flash Player release (version 10.2), including support for Stage Video. Stage Video works by offloading much of much of the display and scaling functions of video to a device's GPU, which means improved playback quality plus decreased processor usage. As the leading Online Video Platform, Brightcove is the only premium video solution to have Stage Video support available at the launch of Flash Player 10.2.
The mobile team has been busy this Holiday Season at Brightcove. We have released Brightcove iOS SDK 2.0.2 with support for iOS 4.2, and the source code for our One Planet application for the iPad. You can now download this source code and use it to kick start the development of your own iPad video application.
We've enhanced the Brightcove Smart Player feature to now support players that include a playlist. Smart Players enable you to automatically deliver your video in Flash or HTML5, depending on your viewer's device capabilities. Using a single embed code, Smart Players automatically detect the devices viewing your video and deliver the appropriate format for that environment. Smart Players support all of Brightcove’s advanced styling features, including point-and-click style editing and BEML customization.
We are thrilled to announce that Major League Gaming (MLG), the largest professional video game league in the world and largest provider of cross platform online video game competition, has chosen Brightcove to support the launch of its new video portal, MLG.tv.

If you want to monetize your mobile videos in an iPhone app, Apple's iAds ad network is the only way to go. We have a new article that describes how to integrate iAds into an iPhone app created using the Brightcove App SDK for iOS. Using iAds is not too complicated: you can add iAd banners to your app the same way you would add a button, label, or any other UI element to your app in the iOS SDK. For details, read Monetizing your iOS app with iAds.
As of last week, Brightcove released an update to our iOS SDK that featured built-in sharing features. Twitter sharing was added in this release and the integration uses OAuth to sign in to your Twitter account to tweet about a video. A few months ago, we rolled out our Adaptive Encoding Engine, which not only produces higher-quality H.264 videos than our previous encoding process, but produces them faster. In order to make sure that more of our customers get the full benefits of the Adaptive Encoding Engine, we plan to update the default transcode settings that are used when Brightcove transcodes the videos you upload. The new default transcode settings use H.264 encoding by default, and also include renditions optimized for mobile video delivery.
