Brightcove has always been proud to offer a platform user-friendly enough for the average non-technical business user, but robust enough for the savviest developer modifications to create truly unique and customized video experiences on the web.
The mobile team has been busy this Holiday Season at Brightcove. We have released Brightcove iOS SDK 2.0.2 with support for iOS 4.2, and the source code for our One Planet application for the iPad. You can now download this source code and use it to kick start the development of your own iPad video application.
As of last week, Brightcove released an update to our iOS SDK that featured built-in sharing features. Twitter sharing was added in this release and the integration uses OAuth to sign in to your Twitter account to tweet about a video. The move to OAuth means increased security for users who tweet while watching videos in your video application.

Happy Tuesday, Express users!
In case you haven’t heard the news through other channels, today we announced new capabilities for delivering video to Android devices. I want to highlight what this means for Express customers, but first you really must read Jeff Whatcott’s excellent blog post, which describes in detail the significance of our new developments.
I hope you are excited about yesterday’s release of the Brightcove iPhone OS SDK (version 1.2.0). This new version is compatible with iPhone OS 3.2 and the iPad, and allows you to create compelling applications containing video optimized for these devices! To allow you to take advantage of significant updates to the iPhone OS, we chose to break out our API rather than doing a straight port of the old version.

A SDK is a great way to get to grips with a new API. Especially if you're an expert in one particular development language and don't have time to learn another.
For example I've been a .NET developer for most of my career so when Brightcove introduced the JSON/REST based Media API I had to spend some time getting to grips with the new architecture.
Not a challenge at all if you don't have very pressing project deadlines and just need to get on with the job.
Bob de Wit just posted in the forums about a .NET SDK that he released... great stuff! If you use .NET, definitely check it out.
From Bob's post.....
Currently the SDK supports all of the video and playlist read methods, write is being implemented. All returned DTO (Data Transfer Objects) are strong typed and (if required) converted to native .NET formats (like DateTime). This SDK uses the Open Source NewtonSoft JSON library for .NET.
There are two SDKs that have been made available in open source form and are available for download! If you are using the Media APIs from either a PHP or JavaScript based application be sure to check these out, they will definitely make your development easier.

JavaScript SDK: http://kudos-js.com
Congrats to Matt Congrove and Brian Franklin on making these available!
Some great activity happening in our developer community, with new open SDKs released for Brightcove's APIs for PHP and JavaScript developers. It's exciting to see online video moving into being a real set of developer platforms that web developers can use for integrating video and rich media into their sites in easy ways.
